Every cloud has a silver lining. I was invited to a Napa Winery Harvest Gala but I did not realize until the week of that it was platinum themed! After a day of shopping online and offline, I learned that platinum was a very difficult color to adhere to, especially since I’m not the sequins and bling bling kind of girl.

The front of the dress was simple and elegant, I loved how
shiny the fabric was even without the use of sequins
My desperation lead to the discovery of a new brand that Neiman Marcus and Saks carries. THEIA launched in Fall 2009 which makes it a pretty young brand, and I don’t feel as bad about not knowing it. THEIA specializes in evening gowns, couture, and bridal dresses that are made with brocades, laces, prints, beading, and embroideries created by some of the finest couture studios in the world.
Upon receiving my shipment, I ordered two sizes of the Cap-Sleeve Metallic Gown (USD1195) just in case, I found that the dress fit me perfectly. If I had more time I would have tailored it to make it more snug, but the material and the cutting was done with attention to details and sophistication.

Even the back is detailed and elegant!
I was worried it would look cheap or not fit since I ordered the dress online and I was not familiar with the brand but once I tried it on, I knew the gown was created by an experienced couturier. Don O’Neill is the Creative Director of this young company and he was inspired at a young age by his mother’s elegant Bergdorf and Ib Jorgensen collections. He later trained with the legendary Gina Fratini, Couturier Donald Campbell, and finally, he moved to Paris to work alongside the famous Christian Lacroix. He later moved to New York to become the Designer for Carmen Marc Valvo and Badgley Mischka and finally joined THEIA as the Creative Director.

I’m a little late in the game since his designs have been praised by Vogue included them in The 10 Most Unconventional Bridal Looks from the Fall 2015 Collections , Huffington Post listed THEIA on their 2016 8 Hot-Off-The-Runway Bridal Trends You’ll Be Seeing Everywhere, Marie Claire and the list goes on! Big shot celebrities such as Amy Poehler, Kloe Kardashian, Ophrah and Taylor Swift have showcase his beautiful couture work on the red carpet!
