Top 3 Hair Styles for Fall

Tis the season to get a new look!  Before the holiday season starts and your go to stylist takes off to spend time with their family, schedule that appointment and refresh your look before  YOU take off and see your family (and maybe run into exes).

I have to admit, I was a bit cynical about how my hair would turn out.  I haven’t colored or permanently styled my hair since high school.  I’m pretty simple with my hair and I have always been proud of how dark and fine it was so I didn’t want to risk damaging it.  I met my new stylist (highly recommended by a friend) a couple months ago and LOVED the way she cut it.  I finally got brave enough to schedule a coloring session with her and I asked for something subtle and simple.

Anyways, here are my top three picks for cool hair colors if you have dark, Asian, hair like me!

Balayage

If you’re a wimp like me, then go for the Balayage.  It can be subtle while giving your skin a nice glow with the highlights.  I did mine with a dark caramel color and it’s only obvious when it’s bright.  It looks a bit like a natural highlight from the sun!

Low lights

I didn’t know this existed until I saw it in my stylist’s portfolio !  For those that already have lightened hair, this is a great way to get more layers without dying your head again.  Instead of getting lighter shades of highlights, she used a darker tone, almost black, to create a similar effect.  It worked great on the long wavy hair and gave the hair a lot more life!

Opal highlights

Opal highlights are for the braves.  I would LOVE to do this to my hair.  Multiple colors are applied as highlights to the hair.  For sharper and more dramatic colors, a lot of people with darker hair will bleach their hair first.  I personally like the playful, subtle version where you can only see the colors in the light, and doesn’t require bleaching.
